The Friends of Addenbrooke's volunteer committee supports the hospitals by:
- promoting and raising awareness of the need to fundraise for Addenbrooke's
and the Rosie hospitals - helping raise money for life enhancing treatments
- volunteering time to help organise events and activities
- helping to recruit new members
The Friends help enhance lives
For each event that the Friends committee holds, they adopt one ward or department and aim to raise enough money to buy a specific piece of equipment that will make a real difference to life enhancing treatments and the quality of care that patients receive.
Some examples of these are:
- A replacement ambulance for the Organ Transplant Unit
- Therapy and sensory equipment for children attending the Child Development Centre
- Upgrade of an Image Review Suite in Oncology to improve delivery and accuracy of radiotherapy
- A phlebotomy chair for the Urology Clinic to make it easier to take blood from patients
